State Funded Program
Economic Impact Aid - Limited English Proficient  (EIA-LEP)

Goal Statement:

To develop fluency in English in each student as effectively and efficiently as possible, promote students' positive self-concepts, promote cross cultural understanding, and provide equal opportunity for academic achievement, including, when requested by the parent, academic instruction through the primary language.

Program Description Summary:

Economic Impact Aid - Limited English Proficient funds are allocated to the district by the State based on its annual census of the number of low income students and children identified as being limited English proficient. These funds are allocated to the Limited English Proficient (LEP) program according to the number of LEP students enrolled.

All schools in the Merced City School District receive funds for limited English proficient students based on the R-30 report. These funds can be used for instructional aides, support personnel, instructional materials, equipment, staff development, parent educational and consultant services.
