The School Attendance Review Board is an interagency effort to work with students who are being referred for truancy or behavior problems at school. The board is composed of representatives of the school district, law enforcement, social services, community agencies, parents and the district attorney. We work collaboratively to help students and parents find solutions to problems that are causing poor attendance and/or behavior. SARB is an alternative to the juvenile court system.
Education Code, section 48200 states that all students between the ages of 6 and 18 are required to attend school full-time. Education Code 48292 & Penal Code section 272 states failure to attend school as required may result in the filing of a complaint against the parent(s) or guardian(s) with the District Attorney’s office.
