In a special meeting of the Merced City School District Board of Education on July 22nd, Trustees appointed Mr. Tsia Xiong to fill the Area 2 Provisional Board Member seat. Trustee Xiong is a parent of MCSD students. He is actively involved in various community organizations and volunteers on a number of MCSD committees. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from CSU, Sacramento. Reminder: School starts August 12th with full distance learning as directed by the Governor. Although circumstances have changed, MCSD still needs your decision about parent choice for future planning purposes. On Friday, July 17th, Governor Gavin Newsom ordered all school districts in counties that are on the State COVID–19 watch list to open the school year with full distance learning. This is also true for the MCSD Preschool Program and Youth Enrichment Program (YEP). These programs will not open as planned for in-person instruction or care.
